How do I get started with J. Rotbart & Co.?

For any of J. Rotbart & Co.’s services, you will need to open an account with us. An account can be opened for individuals, companies, trusts, and foundations.

What documents are required to open an account?

Individual clients need to submit a copy of their passport or national ID, proof of residential address, and proof of bank account under their name, and they need to fill out a two-page KYC form.
Companies, trusts, and foundations need to submit additional documents that we would request.

Is there a charge for opening an account?

Opening an account is free of charge.

How long does it take to open an account?

We can open an account within 8 hours upon receiving the necessary documents. Once approved, we will activate your account, and then you can begin transacting whenever you wish.

Do I need to open my account in person?

No, we can open the account without a client’s physical presence.

Can I open an account with my wife / family members?

Yes, we offer joint accounts. The advantage is that goods can be accessed by other account holders, and that in case of death of one account holder, the joint holders will still have access to the goods.

I have an active account with J. Rotbart & Co. How do I purchase precious metals?

We will need some information from you such as which precious metal and in what form (bars or coins), how much you would like to buy, and what type of transport or storage you need. If you are unsure, we are happy to explain and assist you through this decision-making process.

With this information, we prepare an order form on which you sign your approval. Once we receive the signed form and funds to our bank account, we will immediately execute your order, purchasing the precious metals you want on your behalf, transferring the title to your name, and storing it. You will then receive a storage receipt, a manifest with the bullion details, a photo of your goods, and an invoice.

What payment methods can I use?

We accept bank wires and UnionPay.

Can I visit the vault/storage facility to see my holdings?

Yes. We encourage all our clients to visit the vaults at their convenience with one day’s notice.

Do you have set minimums or maximums for purchases?

We truly believe that physical gold is a vital part of any well-balanced portfolio, so we have not set minimum or maximum amounts for purchases and work on an ad hoc basis.

Do you offer precious metals purchases at predetermined prices (limited orders)?

Yes, we accept limit order transactions. You can set a target price, thus, guaranteeing your purchase at a predetermined price.

Where are your sources for precious metals?

J. Rotbart & Co. works solely with refineries and mints that are members of the London Bullion Market Association and the London Platinum and Palladium Market. We only source newly minted and cast bullion bars and coins, ensuring authenticity and quality.

Can I ask for a specific brand?

Yes, we can source different bullion brands.

Can J. Rotbart & Co. source numismatics and collectibles

Yes, we can source a variety of bullion bars and coins, including numismatics and collectibles.

Do you buy back precious metals?

Yes. As physical precious metals are highly liquid, we will be happy to assist you and buy back the precious metals we sold to you.

Do you buy metals that were not purchased through your company?

Yes, we buy gold that wasn’t sourced from us. We may send the metals for inspection or authentication for confirmation. Once authenticated, we’ll wire you the proceeds.

What kind of vaults and storage facilities do you work with?

We store all our clients’ holdings in private, state-of-the-art vaults located in tax-free zones. Every facility is highly secured and meets the highest industry standards.

I already own precious metals. Can I still use your transportation and storage services?

Yes, our clients are free to choose which of our services they wish to use. You can just buy, sell, transport, or store with us. Or you can avail yourself to our full range of services.

Can I visit my precious metals in your storage anytime?

Yes, we encourage all our clients to visit their holdings at their convenience.

Are my goods insured while stored with you?

We are liable for physical loss of the goods and make sure proper insurance policies are in place to back our liability.

Why should I store my goods with you and not directly with logistics companies?

We will be happy to assist you in forming a direct relationship with the logistics company who operates the vault. However, we believe using our storage services is beneficial to you for few reasons:

  • You enjoy quick trading as a result of using the same company for trading precious metals and for storage.
  • You enjoy superior customer service resulting from working with a boutique family business.
  • You have one point of contact for all your precious metals needs.
  • We provide clients with a variety of strategic locations to choose from and not restricted to specific locations.

Do you store only precious metals?

Besides precious metals, J. Rotbart & Co. can also store all your other valuable assets, such as jewelry, gemstones, and collectibles.

Do you provide full transportation services?

Yes, we offer secure shipping services for precious metals and other valuables, including pick up from residential or office addresses, custom clearance, and delivery to a storage facility or any other locations you choose.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship internationally.

Are my items insured while in transit?

Yes, we are liable for your valuables from the moment we receive them.
